How to check IPO allotment status

Every IPO has a registrar, the company that handles applications and allotment. You check your result on the registrar's website, or on the exchange's own status page.

Step by step

1. Find the IPO's registrar. It is named in the IPO's offer document, and on each IPO's page on IPO Khata.

2. Open that registrar's IPO allotment status page and choose the company's name from the list.

3. Enter your PAN, or your application number or demat client ID, whichever the page asks for, and complete any security check it shows.

4. Read the result. It will say how many shares were allotted, or that none were.

Which registrars handle IPOs in India

Common registrars include MUFG Intime (formerly Link Intime), KFin Technologies (KFintech), Bigshare Services, Cameo Corporate Services, Skyline Financial Services, Maashitla Securities, Purva Sharegistry and Integrated Registry Management Services. The BSE website also has an issue-application status page covering many issues.

Only enter your PAN on the registrar's or an exchange's official page.

When does the status show up?

The basis of allotment is usually finalised one or two working days after bidding closes, ahead of listing. Registrar pages can be slow or down on results day, so try again later rather than assuming a problem.

If you were not allotted

That is common in popular IPOs, because retail allotment is often a lottery. The money blocked for your application is released to your bank account, normally within a working day or so of the allotment, and nothing is charged.

Checking for a whole family

Checking every person's PAN on a separate site gets tedious. IPO Khata checks MUFG Intime, KFintech, Bigshare, Maashitla and Skyline for you after each IPO closes, for every family member you have added, and emails you the results. For any other registrar it sends a direct link to check yourself. A PAN is used only to look up the result at the registrar.
